Autumnal Equinox Ritual & Supportive Crystals

September 23, 2023 will mark the Autumnal Equinox—a time when the long days of summer transition into the shorter days of fall, and we have an exact balance between light and dark. Autumn has a subtle, eartly feeling of transition associated with it, a quiet and slow preparation and anticipation for the winter months ahead.

During this time we are pulled to draw within, to consider the year that has passed. Unlike The Spring Equinox where new Intentions are super supported by the Universe, the Autumnal Equinox asks you be restful and reflective, that you seek to better understand the lessons you have learned, that you regenerate energy for the year to come through gratitude as you set the stage and become clear and Intentional about next year's big moves. Think of it like a garden in the fall. After the hustle and bustle of spring and summer, the soil should have time to be turned over, errant roots and leaves removed and set to rest, to prepare quietly, and deliberately for the seasons to come.

Being Intentional isn't the same as setting Intentions. Being Intentional means you are living with consciousness and purpose. That the things you do have meaning. It turns the simple act of lighting a candle into a ritual that serves you energetically and spiritually and helps to activate momentum for the months to come.

The Autumnal Equinox reminds us to get quiet, live with Intention, and find simple ways to touch center with ourselves.

1. Begin by lighting a candle.

Be conscious of the fact that as we pass through the Autumnal Equinox, we're moving towards the darker months of the year. By lighting this candle you acknowledge that you will continue to be a light for yourself, even in the darkness. That in these darker months, you'll strive to keep your own light alive and well, as you intend to care even more deeply for yourself.

2. Reflect on what you are grateful for.

Create a list or Gratitude Journal (or read through an older one). List the basic things like food on the table, shelter, clothing, transportation, etc. Think of how far you have come. Honor all the wonderful gifts, relationships, and opportunities you have manifested for your life. Reflect on the lessons you have learned. Feel into the gratitude of being alive. Honor and celebrate yourself.

3. Look at what may not currently be in balance in your life.

Are you doing things that energize or deplete you? Is your life in need of more or less excitement? Is there too much change or not enough? Do you feel a part of a community or are you lonely? Do you get as much as you give? Write this down too so that you can clarify your thoughts and keep a record for yourself.

4. Reflect on past Intentions.

Using the information from the questions above, think about the Intentions you have set in the past. Where are you with them? How many have you manifested? How many do you need to tweek to better suit you now? Which ones are you ready to let go of all together?

Remember this isn't a great time for new Intentions, bur rather a great time to retool, clarify, and revive old Intentions.
