People often ask us about the name of our company – SoulKu. “I get the Soul part, but what’s with the Ku?” The Japanese translation of “Ku” is the void from which all things are born. It’s considered the birthplace of infinite possibility. AND it can be a scary place. For to be open to Ku you have to be in the void. You have to have wiped the slate clean. It’s the moment where the phoenix is all smoldering ashes and the rising hasn’t yet begun.
You can’t find a job, your marriage fell apart, a loved one is very sick, your finances are in shambles, the project you put your heart and soul into didn’t work out, what you thought you knew for sure isn’t true anymore.
There is the feeling of falling and falling and just when you think you’ve hit the ground, there is more falling. This is the void. And unless you’ve led a perfectly charmed life (which is: no one) you’ve at least tasted if not full blown experienced the Ku.
At this point you have two choices. One – you can lay down in Ku and wallow there; maybe eventually rise a bit with smaller expectations and smaller dreams and hopes. Or two – you can reframe your situation inside the Ku. The greatest leaders, inventors, and survivors innately understand this idea.
From the void where there is nothing; no “have tos,” no rules, no time table, no schedule, you actually have the chance to create the life you want. It becomes an opportunity to rebirth yourself. Who do you want to be? How do you want your world to look? What are you willing to release? What do you want to hold on to? What is your greatest yet to be and how can you get there from here?
In the nothingness of the void-yes, of course, my loves, there is darkness. And there is fear. And sometimes it seems like the ideas of possibility and opportunity is pretty dang laughable. We get it. We’ve been there. And we’re here to tell you that it will change. You’ll have sleepless nights, you’ll have anxiety that it won’t work out. But the awful dust will settle and you will have the strength and courage to pick up your pieces and reframe.
Reframe, Reframe, Reframe. This is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. This is a blessing in disguise. I don’t know what’s going to happen but I’m open to the magic of the universe. The universe has my back. I’m holding fast to my vision of my future. I trust in the divine timing that is taking place.
There is nothing but power in reframing. This isn’t the end, this is the beginning. You can also lean in to others. Suffering alone compounds your feelings of helplessness. Have some friends help you shine a light on who you want to be. Use the healing power of crystals, exercise, pray, meditate, eat right, visit a room full of puppies or kittens if you can-just do what feels good and feeds your soul. Then dust off and start again. Rock Your Ku. You will be back. And better than ever.
